Check in from 4pm but you can use the hotel facilities from any point during the arrival day. Group welcome at 6.30pm at the hotel, followed by dinner in a highly rated restaurant in Chamonix at 7.30pm.
Starting around 9am we lead you on a beautiful trail that provides stunning views over the Chamonix valley. Since we have the whole day out on the trails we have time to make our way up to the higher balcony paths, some 800 metres above the valley floor. Today we teach you trail running techniques to build your confidence. Following lunch we take some beautiful paths back down to the valley in time to finish around 3pm. This gives you time to unwind back at the hotel.
We lead you on another beautiful route providing another perspective on the Chamonix valley and surrounding peaks. Again we seek out stunning balcony paths which provide breath taking views. With glaciers almost within touching distance this is another unforgettable day of running. We take a beautiful gentle run down to the hotel to finish around 3pm. This leaves you time to take one last dip in the pool before taking transport back to Geneva. If you wish to stay longer ask us for the hotel rate.
Transport to/from Chamonix via Geneva can be booked with one of the many minibus operators, such as Chamexpress, Mountain Drop-Offs, Alpybus or Swiss Tours. The journey takes around 1.25hrs and needs to be booked before travelling.
2 nights in the central 4* spa hotel Le Refuge des Aiglons (or similar alternative) including breakfast each morning, based on sharing a twin room. You can request a single room (supplement applicable). Amenities include the spa with heated outdoor pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna. The hotel also has an outdoor space to relax in, with views of Mont Blanc.
This holiday is aimed at runners who are looking to be out on the trails for most of the day and perhaps have already visited the Alps before or taken part in our Introduction to the Alps weekend. Trail running in the Alps is a blend of hiking and running, so be prepared to walk uphills (sometimes for up to 1 hour) and descending with control. All the work is worth it, as it means you get to see the great views and enjoy the balcony paths!
We recommend you are able to run a half marathon non-stop. Runners are grouped by ability to maximise your enjoyment. A free training plan is provided for you to follow in the lead up to the trip.
This adventure can also be easily booked for a private group, see our bespoke options.
