Join us this spring for a guided trail run through the beautiful woods and open ridgelines of the Chiltern Hills! Along the way you will learn trail running techniques and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, famous for its use in filming locations.

All abilities are catered for, but this series is particularly aimed at those wishing to build up to running a 10km on trails alongside tips on how to progress your training. The series starts with a 6km in April and finishing with an 8km event in May. It's perfect for those who are maybe new to trail running; would like to be inspired to reach a 10km goal; improve fitness; learn about how to be a stronger runner or indeed would like to meet other like minded runners.

As with all Run the Wild events, it's a team event so you will be grouped with similar ability runners and led by one of our experienced Run Leaders. We walk anything too steep and it's a good opportunity to get some trail running tips from our leaders along the way.

Each run costs £15 if you book separately. You can also sign up to both using the 3rd payment option below.

We have safe COVID-19 working practices in place which ensure social distancing and maximum numbers are relevant to current government guidelines. Your safety and enjoyment are our priority.


Ashridge House is just 40 minutes North West of London with train links from Euston. The nearest train stations are Tring and Berkhamsted where there are taxi ranks available. There is an on-site free car park. Accommodation is available nearby, please get in touch if you would like any recommendations.


We recommend you have completed the 'couch to 5km program'. We will cater for the following paces: 5-7km and 8-11km an hour on the flat or road. The event is inclusive to new runners and also those who are regularly out on the trails. We will group participants by their ability. First time trail runners welcome!


Registration by 8.30am, at Ashridge House, a beautiful country estate. Toilets and free onsite parking is available. The event will finish around 10.30am.

Availability Status Definitions:

If there are are no dates listed - we will be looking to put up new dates soon, get in touch if you would like to register interest or book a private trip.


Difficulty of route, ascent per day, fitness required and experience (if in doubt call the office to find out more).

Easy undulating trails at low levels of elevation and relatively small amounts of cumulative ascent (up to around 500m).
Some steeper sections on trails. Good fitness is required and total cumulative ascent may reach 1000m.
Many steep sections with long climbs up hill. Expect long days out of up to 6-8hrs and cumulative ascent of around 1500m ascent.
Steep mountain trails with passes and anything over 2000m cumulative ascent. You need to be in top physical and mental condition and be prepared for long days.
Basic mountaineering skills required / 2000m+ ascent.


When you sign to an event you will be placed in a group that matches your running ability (based on what you tell at the time of booking). You will be running as a team, led by your Run Leader / Trail Running Guide. These are the approximate pacing for each group as measured over 10km.

12-14.5 mins / mile or 7.5-9 mins / km on the flat
You usually run 10km in 76-90 mins
10-12 mins / mile or 6-7.5 mins / km on the flat
You usually run 10km in 61-75 mins
8-9 mins / mile or 5-6 mins / km on the flat
You usually run 10km in 50-60 mins
7 mins / mile or 4.5 mins / km on the flat
You usually run 10km in 45 mins or less
